Taskers Lane - Hoare's Bakery

Oliver Hoare began his bakery business at these premises around the end of the 19th Century. The shop was passed down through the family and was still trading when I came to the village in 1983 however it closed a few years later. Despite its apparent remoteness, the building was historically classed as being part of Eastcourt. Today it lies at the junction of Taskers Lane and Smithys Lane. The building began life as a pair of farm worker's cottages but is now a single house.
