Written 2nd July 1879
- To her son Ernest John Astley and nephew Henry Brooke of
Marlborough, plumber, her freehold dwelling house with shop and meadow in Chute
which she had purchased from Mr Bailey and her share in a piece of freehold
arable land in Chute Forest which is in the occupation of William Hugh Fowle
esquire. Also any other personal real estate she may have. To hold them in
trust.
- To her son Ernest John Astley and nephew Henry Brooke all her
household goods, furniture, stock in trade, book debts, policies of assurances
, monies and securities and all other personal estate. Upon trust.
- The trustees are to sell the above and obtain the best price
and from the monies:-
- To give her two sons, Ernest John Astley and Sydney Astley
£50 each
- The residue to be divided amongst her six children, George,
Charles Edward, Ernest John, Edwin, Sydney and Joseph, share and share
alike.
- Before her stock in trade as a saddler and harness maker is
sold by the trustees her two sons John Ernest and Sydney, jointly, at a value
to be assessed independently may purchase it. But if they do not want it
jointly then John Ernest can buy it and if he is not interested then Sydney can
buy it. However this opportunity to purchase must be taken up within 1 month of
they being offered the chance by Henry Brooke.
- The executors are her son Ernest John Astley and nephew Henry
Brooke.
