Part 1 - 1661 to 1834

The first part of this index covers 1661 to 1834. The index has not been checked! Please refer to original material if you see something of interest! Also look at spelling variations & check the ? file (some blank and undecipherable surnames).

The entries for this part have this format:

Surname, Forename, Date, Comment (in register), Abode, Age

and are indexed by surname, then date.

Special note about date formats: Before 1752 the Julian Calendar was used. In this system the year started on March 25th. So, for example, 1st January 1740 was the day after 31st December 1740, and the year 1740 continued to 24th March. 1741 began the following day, March 25th. 1751 was a short year, beginning March 25th but ending December 31st. 1752 was also a bit short, as 11 days were omitted in September

Part 2 - 1834 to 1934

We can thank John Frivance for compiling the burials from 1834 to 1934. The entries are in a similar format to the earlier records viz:

Surname, Forename, Middle Name, Date, Comment (in register), Abode, Age

and are indexed by surname, then date.

However John has added an extra Comments column. Whenever the entry was unclear he cross-referenced it with the Bishop's Transcripts (BT) information and Civil Registry Index (CRI) information - the latter up until 1910 - and made the appropriate notes.
