St Katherine's Burial Register 1861 - 1949

When the marchioness convinced the marquis to build a new church to serve the "house" and southern hamlets of the forest, an act was obtained to create a new parish. Thus, in 1861, St Katherine's came into being by taking land from the ancient parishes of Burbage, Great Bedwyn and Little Bedwyn. From that date the souls from Durley and Warren remained in the administrative parish of Burbage but had to look to St. Katherine's for their spiritual wellbeing.

Any search for missing Burbage relatives should consult the registers of St. Katherine's and also those of the long closed Christ Church at Cadley which controlled the residents of Leigh Hill.
